Fun with Shapes with Do you often weary and discouraged grow and O God, our help in ages past

Do you often weary and discouraged grow
With the burdens you are called to bear?
Do you sometimes long deliverance to know
From the sorrows and the heartaches here?

Does the journey oft seem wearisome and long
Ere at last you reach the shining goal?
Do you sometimes long to join the blood-washed throng
In the blessed homeland of the soul?

Just a few more toiling days for you and me,
Till our life’s work here on earth be done;
Crowded full of willing service let them be,
Till we hear the Master’s blest “Well done.”

Chorus
By and by around the throne we’ll sing
Endless praises to our Lord and King,
Who in mercy sought us,
And thro’ grace has bro’t us
To our Father’s home on high.

Mrs. C. H. Morris

  O God, our help in ages past,
  Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
  And our eternal home!

  Under the shadow of thy throne
  Still may we dwell secure;
Sufficient is thine arm alone,
  And our defense is sure.

  Before the hills in order stood,
  Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting thou art God,
  To endless years the same.

  A thousand ages, in thy sight,
  Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night,
  Before the rising sun.

  The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
  With all their cares and fears,
Are carried downward by the flood,
  And lost in following years.

  Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
  Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
  Dies at the opening day.

  O God, our help in ages past,
  Our hope for years to come;
Be thou our guide while life shall last,
  And our eternal home!

Isaac Watts
